Dry Charcoal Dust Painting: Si

I see a visit from Jakarta. Hope next time, my visitors will leave a comment.

I'll show you some tips on how I draw a portrait with painterly effect.

Using a brush and powdered charcoal, I start with the eyes.

Then, anything goes.
No need to worry if it's messy.

Don't worry if by this time, your portrait looks like this. Just continue brushing.
If you're not comfortable with a brush, use a pencil.
It takes time to learn, practice makes perfect.
The mouth part is ok for me, the eyes, not yet.
By this time, you might want to darken some parts. It's plain charcoal, no liquid needed for the painterly effect.
The sketch looks different when it's lying down.

By this time, you can stop. It's your decision to make.
Oh no, the eyes and the nose are very wrong.
I tried to finish it, but I decided to better leave it and return after some few hours or days . By that time you'll see if the portrait needs to be worked on further.

I may return to it some other time and may post here.

Hope you learned something. Please leave your constructive criticism.

Going back after a few days.

It really depends on how your hands follow your perception. If I were him, I won't recognize myself.
