I think that having my piece a little darker and looking rugged separates my art from others. You can see it in this piece. They say that your piece reflects your mood when you are doing it. Maybe, maybe not!
But as the years went on, after using charcoal pencils and pencils alone, I am using a paint brush to have a painterly effect. But my mark is still there, a little rugged.
